Diamond Healthcare Corporation is pleased to announce that Maryview Medical Center's Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program in Portsmouth, VA has received certification by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR). Diamond has managed the program at Bon Secours Maryview for the past 15 years.

“We have seen great outcomes in our Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program and this certification reinforces the importance and value of this service,” said Kelly Russell, Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program Director.

In the past 14 years, the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program at Maryview Medical Center had 1,502 program graduates. Of those 1,502 graduates, only 19 patients were readmitted to the hospital within 30 days (1.26%).

Pulmonary Rehabilitation focuses on exercise conditioning, strength training, activities of daily living, education and emotional support for pulmonary patients. Treatment is offered for chronic obstructive and restrictive pulmonary diseases.

According to the AACVPR website, the Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program Certification process is the only peer-review accreditation process designed to review individual facilities for adherence to standards and guidelines developed and published by AACVPR and other professional societies.
